KCR is Hiring: Community Information & Volunteer Assistant (Student Position)

Hours of Work & Rate of Pay: 35 hours per week for eight weeks*, Monday – Friday, some weekends and evenings may be required
*For the right candidate, there is the option to offer this position on a part-time basis through the summer and fall

Anticipated Start Date: June 22, 2020
End date will be dependent on part-time or full-time work plan

Position Summary
To work in conjunction with KCR’s Community Services Team to provide community information and referrals, volunteer supports, capacity building and KCR marketing and community outreach.

Reporting Structure
Reports to the Communications & Development Coordinator

Prime Functions
Community Information & Referrals
  • Update Community Information database
  • Create and update community resource publications
  • Respond to Community Information enquiries from the general public by phone and email
Volunteer & NFP Capacity Building Supports
  • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of community groups and volunteers to participate in our new Volunteer platform
  • Support updating of non-profit capacity-building workshop materials in preparation for Fall sessions
Marketing/Outreach
  • Develop resource and marketing materials for KCR’s program and community outreach
  • Share information with the community about KCR Community Resources’ programs and other community supports and services available in the Central Okanagan
  • Adapt display materials and staff displays at various public events – dependent on COVID guidelines
  • Support implementing KCR marketing strategy and initiatives including producing a bi-weekly e-newsletter and generating content for social media channels
  • Other tasks as required in order to support the Community Services Department
Summer Student Requirements
This position is a Summer Student position funded through Service Canada. Applicants must:
  • Be between the ages of 15–30 at the start of employment;
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident; or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred (Note: International students are not eligible).
Qualifications
  • Education in business, marketing, non-profit management, human resources, education, social sciences or similar field of study. These fields provide academic learning in various aspects required in this position, including teaching and learning methods, resource development, and marketing.
  • Experience volunteering and/or working with volunteers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Social media experience
  • Experience developing resources; Strong computer skills
  • Experience with engaging the public, customer service
