Grant Opportunities

Government of Canada $350 Million Emergency Community Support Fund – This fund is intended to improve the ability of community organizations to serve vulnerable Canadians during the COVID-19 crisis.

McConnell Foundation launched a $750,000 COVID-19 response fund to provide short-term support for community organizations facing increased demands and help organizations respond during the pandemic and recovery period.

Telus Friendly Future Foundation committed $10 million to support COVID-19 response efforts.

We are excited to announce that we are officially the regional host of a new volunteer recruitment platform, the Okanagan VolunteerConnector, which will help you find more volunteer opportunities in our community. This platform is very user-friendly; we are confident that it will help you find the right volunteer opportunities for you!

Individuals can:

  • Create and save a personal profile, which stops you from having to complete multiple application forms
  • Follow the organizations that you are most interested in and stay informed when they post new positions
  • Select the volunteer shifts that work best for you and keep a schedule of all your volunteer commitments
  • Track all of your volunteer hours
  • Tailor your search results based on your personal skills and interests

Organizations can:

  • Recruit volunteers quickly and easily with no limit on volunteer postings
  • Apply to postings seamlessly, and volunteers can track their hours
  • See your team at a glance on the dashboard, and there is no limit on the number of users per profile
  • Communicate directly with your volunteers through the platform
  • Assign volunteer roles within the organization
  • Export your volunteer list for offline use at any time
  • Get moving quickly by uploading your current volunteer list

Okanagan Volunteer Opportunities Fair

Date: Saturday, September 19, 2020

The Okanagan Volunteer Fair will be an online event this year with activity on our Get Involved Central Okanagan Facebook page and video interviews with participating organizations. We will also continue to produce the printed Get Involved Magazine with the support of the Kelowna Capital News.

 

Lake Country – Get Involved

Date: Saturday, October 17, 2020

We are still hopeful that we will be able to have a limited attendance in-person event for Get Involved Lake Country. However, in the meantime, we invite you to like and follow our Lake Country BC Volunteer Facebook page. We will also feature participating Lake Country organizations in video interviews and in the printed Get Involved Magazine.
