KCR Community Resources and Project Literacy Central Okanagan Society are partnering again to strengthen food security, build food literacy and beautify our downtown neighbourhood through the Community Care Garden Project. Volunteers from both organizations have planted tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, carrots, kale, various greens and more in the 14 raised garden beds that will grow over 250 pounds of food to be distributed to vulnerable families. Swing by and check them out in front of our offices!
We are very grateful to FortisBC for their commitment to addressing food security and helping with food literacy for newcomers by sponsoring this project.
We are looking for recipes to send home with the food we grow. If you have a veggie-based recipe that we can feature, please email it to dorothee@kcr.ca.
