Partners of MNP Kelowna give generously to Central Okanagan Foundation to support community resources
MNP Community Fund is established with the Family Hub, a program of KCR Community Resources, chosen as its first ever recipient
Today, the Central Okanagan Foundation is pleased to announce that the Partners of MNP here in Kelowna have set up the MNP Community Fund. MNP is one of Canada’s leading professional services firms providing client-focused accounting, consulting, tax, and digital services. Locally, the nine Kelowna partners are passionate about supporting the needs of families and have provided a gift of $50,000 per year for three years, for a total gift of $150,000.
Their initial gift will direct funding to KCR Community Resources specifically to support the core program at The Family Hub. This substantial gift and the commitment of a three-year term, ensures the impact is immediate, supporting vulnerable families now, while also providing sustainability and long-term planning for the relevant and interactive programs that are offered at the Family Hub. The Family Hub program and operations are intentionally a preventative and “upstream” model designed by consulting with families and early childhood professionals to deliver what is best for children, based on research and evidence. The Family Hub’s model encourages connections to the community, helping families to navigate the services and programs that address their specific needs.
“Supporting our local communities where we live and work is one of our core values at MNP; it’s a responsibility we take seriously and one we’re proud to honour,” said Trina Warren, Regional Managing Partner with MNP. “We are pleased to entrust our gift to the Central Okanagan Foundation who will manage our donation over the next three years to KCR Community Resources and the Family Hub. We know that our gift will support the important work they do in providing essential services to hundreds of local families, so they are connected, healthy and empowered.”
Impact on community resources continues to be felt throughout our community, and non-profit organizations are no exception. Organizations are facing an unprecedented increase in demand for their services. KCR is one that stood out in the MNP Partners’ view.
“This gift makes such a difference to the families we serve,” said Laura Thurnheer, President of the Board of KCR Community Resources. “As one of our participant’s recently said to us “The Hub is a safe place. It can be difficult to share my situation with everyone, but I have a trusted connection at the Hub and I can share my concerns here.” The commitment of the MNP partners allows us to be certain that the Hub is here for the community and for families for the next three years, and it strengthens the base for the innovative programs we offer. Their commitment also means we can continue to build the trust necessary to be active and to be present to support parents and kids when and how they need it.”
Judy Neiser, Chief Executive Officer at Central Okanagan Foundation adds, “Offering the opportunity for community-minded organizations to fulfill their philanthropic goals is something we confidently offer. The community agencies we support and the ability to provide grants on behalf of our Donors, gives us a direct relationship with agencies and provides us with a pulse on the needs in the community. We are proud to do our part in supporting the extraordinary organizations who do so much for our community every day. The generosity of MNP is inspiring and will go a long way to support the great work that KCR does in the community.”
The Central Okanagan Foundation is one of 203 community foundations across Canada, dedicated to improving communities in specific geographical areas. The COF does this by pooling the charitable gifts of donors to create endowment funds and using the investment income to make grants to registered charities.
