Give a Little, Do a Lot – Looking for Hub Volunteers

The Central Okanagan Family Hub is looking for volunteers to assist the Family Hub Facilitator with supporting families accessing the Hub and service providers’ programming.

Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Family Hub Facilitator & Family Services Manager.

Prime Functions:
  • Creates a welcoming environment for participants
  • Greets and interacts with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a non-judgmental and culturally safe manner
  • Connects professionally with infants, children and caregivers where they are at
  • Demonstrates respect for every person; Maintains confidentiality
  • Collects relevant data to assist in compiling program reports
  • Represents the Hub’s policies, purpose and vision
  • Cleans toys and play areas; Helps to set up new play stations
  • Effectively refers participants to community resources
  • Assists with the program set up and clean up
  • Supports marketing efforts of the Family Hub as directed by the Hub Facilitator

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in relevant field and/ or experience working with families and children is considered an asset
  • Clearly understands professional boundaries and service limitations
  • Strong intercultural communication skills
  • Has a positive, calm, and welcoming demeanor
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Success at managing a wide array of tasks and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
