Settlement & Integration Services

Settlement Workers will assist you to identify and assess your needs and barriers and provide you with information, options and referrals to relevant services and resources within the community.

Employment Mentors will offer informal advice, connections, moral support and network opportunities to internationally trained professionals.

Settlement Mentors will assist newcomers with learning more about the community, building connections, practicing English, and coping with the stresses of moving to a new country.

Information and Orientation Workshops and Community Connections. We provide group workshops on topics such as pre-employment, filing taxes, tenancy, family programs, health and wellness and learning about your rights and responsibilities. Community Connections events and activities are a great opportunity to learn more about local community resources, programs and services and connect with others. 

Job Club is a weekly networking opportunity where participants can support and empower one another during their job search.

English Conversation Circle provides newcomers with an opportunity to make new friends and practice their English language skills in an open and welcoming environment.

Youth Program aims at connecting immigrant youth, aged 9 to 17 years old, to community resources by offering field trips and engaging activities on non-school days, particularly during Spring, Summer and Winter breaks. 

Case Management provides comprehensive support for refugees and immigrants facing multiple barriers to settlement. We provide holistic and client-centered services for adults and families living in the Central Okanagan.

 

Central Okanagan Local Immigration Partnership

The Central Okanagan LIP is driven by a Council of community stakeholders whose aims are to support newcomer settlement and integration through local community engagement and collaboration.

 

Employment Support

Our Specialists provide pre-employment support and assistance with job search, resume/cover letter preparation, and interviewing skills.

Mentorship Program

We provide Employment and Settlement Mentorship Services to Newcomers to help them integrate in Canadian Society.

Refugee Response Team

Taaloo Zorouna, Arabic for “Come Visit With Us”, is a series of short video interviews with Syrian Refugees who have come to the Thompson Okanagan in the past year. It reflects the importance of being social to Syrians and acts as an invitation to get to know our new neighbours.

 

Translation & Interpretation Services

Providing participants with the high-quality interpretation and translation services in over 50languages. We also arrange certified translation upon request.

 

Workshops & Training

Will provide an overview of BC Society, introduce newcomers to BC and community services, assist immigrants to obtain skills related to social connections, knowledge and life skills.
