Community Services

“Sometimes things just fall into place! That is the way it was for me when I joined the Okanagan Volunteer Opportunities Fair Committee. Networking, creativity and brainstorming are three key elements for this event and each year keeps getting better. KCR encourages individuals from the not for profit and business world to  work collectively and create incredible  opportunities that have a positive impact on the community”.
– Laurel D’Andrea, Publisher, Beyond 50 Magazine

“I find that volunteering with KCR is a great way to give back to my community, while at the same time having fun and connecting with like minded people. I know that there are many complex issues in our community. I also know that if each of us takes a small piece together we can really make an impact. We can’t sit back and wait for somebody to do something- we are somebody and we have a responsibility to make things better”.
– Phil Bond, Manager AVP Students Community Service Learning Program, UBCO

I really enjoyed working with KCR on the Regional Volunteer Advisory Committee and on the development of a Lunch and Learn. For me, being able to give back to the volunteer community is huge. Volunteer agencies fill valuable niches and I appreciate the key work that they do. As well, I have enjoyed networking and expanding my connections – and friendships – throughout the valley.
– Cheryl Wiebe, Director of Community Services, District of Peachland

I volunteer with KCR on the Volunteer Opportunity Fair Steering Committee because I strongly believe in the value of the volunteer contribution in the community. I feel that I help connect Kelowna citizens with local not-for-profit organizations that do such valuable work. This committee is so well organized and expertly chaired by Dawn Wilkinson, KCR’s Community Services Manager, and each member actively makes a contribution and I hope to continue on it for many years to come.
– Wendy Robertson, Executive Director, Kelowna Community Music School

I just saw the Volunteer Column in the Capital News this afternoon – it looks terrific! Thanks again for including us in this promotion. I know it is effective because I already had a phone call from it.
– Dorothee Birker, Artistic Director, Interior Savings Fat Cat Children’s Festival

Just a quick note to again express my appreciation for the opportunity to be involved with the Regional Volunteer Advisory Committee through Kelowna Community Resources. I was so happy to be involved with such an engaged and active group.
I am always in awe of the scope and volume of important community work that is done by KCR. As a member of 3 not for profit boards, I am particularly impressed and thankful for the work KCR does to support the NFP community.
Thank you to everyone at KCR for helping to make the Central Okanagan a stronger community.
– Gary Johnston, Advertising Manager – Special projects, The Daily Courier

We LOVE the volunteer fair 🙂
